TRS becoming BRS, UPA taking the name of INDIA alliance does not change their corruption: PM Modi

Hyderabad, Nov 25 (PTI) Though the TRS changed its name to BRS and UPA renamed itself as the INDIA alliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said their corruption, misrule and history of vote bank politics can never be changed.

Modi, who addressed election rallies at Kamareddy and Maheswaram in Telangana, said the commonality between the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Congress is that they adopt all types of tricks to betray people.

'Suddenly, the TRS is made BRS. This year itself, UPA has been made 'INDI alliance' (INDIA Alliance). People of the country understand these tricks well,' he said.

'By changing name, their corruption, misrule and history of vote bank politics can never be changed. Truth is, in many states in the country, people have evicted the Congress for decades,' he said.

The BRS and Congress make allegations against each other but they are in cahoots, he alleged.

'What they are saying outside is 'dramebazi' (Drama)' he said.

Saying that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's ties with Congress are 40-50 year-old, Modi said Rao started his politics with the grand old party, became a union minister in the UPA government in 2004 and had visited Congress leader (Sonia Gandhi) after the formation of Telangana.

The BRS had supported Congress in the Presidential and Vice Presidential elections and during a no-confidence motion against his government in parliament recently, he said.

'So, who is his (KCR's) real friend? His collusion is with whom?,' the prime minister asked.

The Maheswaram assembly constituency is an example of how the Congress and BRS are two sides of the same coin. The Congress candidate who won the last assembly election from the segment had switched over to BRS and became a part of the government, Modi said without taking the name of state Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy who is seeking re-election from Maheswaram.

'That means the vote given to Congress in Telangana will strengthen BRS. The BJP is the most credible party to defeat the BRS,' he said.

Saying that the Congress and KCR don't believe in politics of development, Modi said their speeches revolve around negative talks and abusing others. Modi is their favorite to abuse, he said.

Even a child in Telangana is aware of the thousands of crores of corruption by Congress, he alleged.

KCR, who emerged from the 'Congress school of politics', continued the same tradition and made irrigation schemes as 'irrigation scams', the prime minister said.

He also alleged that irrigation schemes have become 'ATMs for BRS'. The BRS announces a new project when it needs money, he said.

The projects announced by the BRS government are neither completed nor started to serve the people and the 'money meant for development of Telangana is going into the pockets of the family that runs BRS,' the prime minister alleged.

The Congress and BRS are against SC, ST and OBC. 'They insulted SC, ST, OBC leaders at every step. The Congress is so much against the BC community that it threw senior leader Sitaram Kesri, who was OBC, out of the party office,' Modi said.

'(A) Congress leader continuously calls BC Samaj a thief and for calling BC a thief, the court has given two years' punishment to a Congress leader. Now, he is on bail. But, he is still arrogant,' he said.

The 'BC Samaj' would break this arrogance, he said.

Referring to his recent announcement in Hyderabad to set up a committee to speed up the process of sub-categorisation in Scheduled Castes reservation for the Madiga community, the prime minister said he gave a roadmap to the officials on Friday to expedite the process.

Though the Centre and BJP-ruled states reduced the prices of petrol, the Congress governments and the BRS regime in Telangana have not reduced it, he said.

'That means, the pattern of looting people by the Congress and BRS is the same,' he said.

If the Congress is elected to power 'by mistake' in Telangana, it will be a 'carbon copy' of the BRS government, Modi said.

He alleged that the government employees and pensioners in the state are not getting their salaries and pensions on time.

People want liberation from the BRS and Congress and the wind is in favour of the BJP, he said.

Modi also said the BJP's manifesto in the state is a symbol of the aspirations of the poor, farmers, Dalits and backward sections.

The prime minister expressed confidence that the people would dislodge the BRS from power in the November 30 assembly polls.

Observing that the BJP delivers on what it promises, he cited the abrogation of Article 370, ending triple talaq, women's reservation bill as examples and said the promise of the Ram temple at Ayodhya is getting fulfilled.

Referring to CM KCR and state Congress president A Revanth Reddy contesting from Kamareddy constituency, the prime minister said they are also in the fray from other seats as well which shows their 'desperation and fear'.

The people of Kamareddy have an opportunity to show the Congress and BRS that their corruption, family politics and appeasement politics would not continue, Modi said. PTI SJR VVK KH
