Ajay Kumar Sharma assumes charge as Director (Personnel) of SJVN
New Delhi: Ajay Kumar Sharma has assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of SJVN Limited on Thursday. His appointment has been done by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Govt of India. Prior to joining SJVN, Sharma served with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) from 1996 to 2009, where he held position of Head of Mechanical Maintenance at Bokaro Steel Plant & was awarded as an ‘Outstanding Employee for year 2007.’

Sharma has over two decades of rich experience in Human Resources and Industrial Operations. Having joined SJVN in October 2009 as Manager, Sharma has been instrumental in driving key HR initiatives that includes improving employee engagement and productivity, developing and implementing HR Policies aligned with the company’s strategic objectives, designing and executing of comprehensive training programs that enhanced skills and competencies of workforce and integration of technology with HR processes and improving efficiency contributing to overall organisational growth.
He has been honored with ‘People Choice SJVN Star Award’ twice since inception of the Award in 2019 for exhibiting exemplary leadership and motivating the team to achieve challenging targets of the organisation.
Born on April 8, 1974, in the village Khargat under Sihunta tehsil Chamba District, HP, his early education was completed at Government Senior Secondary School, Khargat. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, MBA in Human Resource Management from IGNOU and Executive Development Program Certification in HRM from XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur. His family background includes his father owning a shop and his mother being a homemaker. He is married to Smt. Shally Sharma and they have two daughters.
On assuming charge, Sharma said, “I am honored to take on this new role and look forward to contributing to SJVN’s mission of sustainable growth and excellence in the Power Sector.”
As his present role, Sharma will be overseeing company’s Human Resource Functions and legal function and will also head CSR Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the company. His leadership is expected to enhance further SJVN's commitment to creating a positive, inclusive workplace culture while driving growth and achieving the company’s long-term objectives.
