

New Delhi/Bengaluru: State-owned Canara Bank has announced the appointment of Brajesh Kumar Singh as its new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Singh has assumed the charge of the top position of Canara Bank on June 1, following a notification issued by the Government on May 30.

According to the notification, Singh will serve as MD & CEO of Canara Bank until April 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A seasoned banker with more than three decades of experience, Singh brings extensive expertise across key banking functions, including corporate credit, retail banking, human resources, business development, and strategic operations. Prior to joining Canara Bank, he served as Executive Director of Indian Bank, where he played a significant role in driving business growth, strengthening governance mechanisms, and advancing the bank’s digital and operational transformation agenda.
His appointment follows the recommendation of the Financial Services Institutions Bureau and subsequent approval by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Singh succeeds K. Satyanarayana Raju, whose tenure as MD & CEO of Canara Bank concluded on December 31.
An agriculture graduate from Allahabad Agriculture Institute, Singh holds an MBA in Finance and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). He has also completed the Executive Leadership Development Programme at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, further enhancing his leadership and strategic management capabilities.
In a statement, Canara Bank said that under Singh’s leadership, the bank will continue to focus on accelerating digital transformation, expanding financial inclusion, maintaining strong asset quality, enhancing customer experience, and creating sustainable value for all stakeholders.
