
New Delhi: PTC India Ltd, the country's leading power trading company, announced on Tuesday that Dr Manoj Kumar Jhawar has officially taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company, effective from May 13. His appointment was earlier approved by the company’s Board on April 26.
Dr Jhawar, who previously served as Whole Time Director (Commercial & Operations) at PTC India, had also been holding additional charge of CMD since June 13, 2024. He will serve in the top role until his superannuation at the age of 60.
An industry veteran with over three decades of experience in the power sector, Dr Jhawar is a PhD in Management Sciences from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with a Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Management. He is also a qualified Cost Accountant.
He began his career in 1989 with the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board and has held several senior leadership positions in Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Ltd, including Director (Finance) and Director (Commercial). Prior to joining PTC India, he served as Director (Finance) at KIOCL Ltd, a Category-I Mini Ratna CPSE.
Dr Jhawar brings to the table significant expertise in policy planning, finance, IT management, regulatory affairs, and smart metering, among other areas critical to the power distribution and trading sector.
PTC India said in a regulatory filing that Dr Jhawar is not related to any director of the company and has not been debarred by any regulatory authority from holding the office of director.
