

New Delhi: Power Foundation of India (PFI) has appointed Dr Ravindra Kumar Tyagi as its Director General with effect from on May 27, the organisation said on Tuesday.
Dr Tyagi has more than 35 years of experience in the power sector, with expertise spanning power systems, transmission, asset management, engineering, business development, telecom, load dispatch, safety and grid operations.

Prior to joining the foundation, he superannuated as Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He had also served as Director (Operations) and Executive Director (North-Eastern Region) at the company.
An electrical engineer from Punjab Engineering College, Dr Tyagi holds an M. Tech in Energy Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and is also a Fulbright Scholar from Carnegie Mellon University.
According to the statement, Dr Tyagi has represented India in several international technical committees and has authored more than 50 technical papers. He has also contributed to the development of global technical standards in transmission systems.
Among his recognitions are the prestigious 1906 Award for contribution towards IEC standards development and the Distinguished Member recognition from CIGRE.

The organisation said his leadership and extensive experience are expected to strengthen initiatives focused on innovation, collaboration and sustainable growth in India’s power sector.
Power Foundation of India functions as a think tank and policy advocacy body under the aegis of the Ministry of Power.
