New Delhi: Praveen Kulkarni is set to be next Director (Operation) of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a PSU under the Ministry of Defence. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Wednesday. Presently, he is serving as Commander in the Indian Navy.
The appointment of Kulkarni as Director (Operations) of GSL will be effective only after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet's (ACC) approval. Presently, GSL's CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay is holding the additional charge of Director (Operations) post.
Kulkarni has been recommended for the post of Director (Operations) of GSL from a list of eight candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB panel in its selection meeting held on March 15. Out of eight candidates two candidates were from Indian Navy including Kulkarni, two candidates from GSL, two candidates from Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) and one each from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
As Director (Operations) of GSL, Kulkarni will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for all operations of the company related to shipbuilding, achieving objectives of shipyard modernisation, and export related issues. He will also be responsible for industrial relations interactions and negotiations with unions.
