K Bangar Raju, an outstanding manager-media relations retires from Vizag Steel on June 30

New Delhi: Kammella Bangar Raju, who served as the Manager- Public Relations and media in Vizag Steel Plant (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) retiring from services as a Senior Manager (CC) in the Corporate Communications Department on achieving the age of superannuation on June 30.

Considered as a key person and 'Born PR' in handling Media Affairs of the company not only in Vizag but also in other parts of various cities in enhancing the image of RINL-VSP. He has enjoyed tremendous support of several media publications across the country because of his amicable nature towards journalists and one who has always accessible for information.

Bangar Raju's passion for developing an excellent and continuous rapport with the Media in disseminating news promptly paid rich dividends to the company during his over three decades of service to the organisation as a good PR man.

Professional Experience

Joined in the erstwhile public relations department of Vizag-Steel Project in 1988 with the journalism background, Bangar Raju actively worked under various CEOs of RINL right from DR Ahuja, the founder CMD  till the present CMD, PK Rath and several PR professionals of CC department and gained rich experience under their leadership in handling media affairs successfully and became a media-savvy and friend.

After successful completion of his education from Andhra University, Bangar Raju started his career as a correspondent of United News of India (UNI), Visakhapatnam during 1984-85. Later, he served as a Reporter and Sub-Editor in the Vizag edition of Deccan Chronicle news daily from 1985-87.

Bangar Raju has to his credit demonstrated accomplishments and outstanding performance in Media and PR Relations, Communications and Organisational skills, Liaison activities and maintaining excellent relations with several stakeholders and political friends etc.

Educations

Bangar Raju holds a masters degree in Politics (1981-83) and obtained 2nd rank out of 436 candidates appeared for MA in Politics from Andhra University. He also holds another masters degree in Public Administration (1984) and also awarded a Research Degree Masters in Philosophy (M Phil) in 1991 on the dissertation and subject "Newspapers & Political Awareness in North Coastal Districts of Andhra Pradesh"  all from Andhra University. He has also awarded a PG Diploma in Public Relations and another PG Diploma in English from Andhra University.

Political Experience

In addition to the above, as a student of politics, Bangar Raju worked as a Personal Assistant to a Minister (Late Gudivada Gurunadha Rao) in Andhra Pradesh cabinet from 1991-92 on an official deputation from Vizag Steel Plant. He was the first person to go on deputation from Vizag Steel to a Minister. He also served as a Private Secretary to Late Gurunadha Rao, who was an MP from Anakapalle Constituency from 1998-99.

Bangar Raju has also the distinction of serving as a Private Secretary to Dr N Janardhan Reddy, Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who was elected as an MP (Lok Sabha) from Visakhapatnam Parliamentary Constituency during 2004-09.

Accolades

A Recipient of "Steelies India 2018 Award" for Exemplary contribution & Excellence in Media Relations and External Communications at RINL. The award was bestowed on him by Sri Sri Rajib Banerjee, Hon'ble Minister of Backward Classes Welfare, Govt of West Bengal in Kolkata on November 26, 2018. The Award was instituted by Steel & Metallurgy Magazine, Kolkata.
