
New Delhi: Mugdha Sinha (IAS) has assumed charge as new Managing Director (MD) of India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) on Monday. The announcement was made by the Railways PSU in regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Monday.
The appointment was approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and conveyed through an Office Memorandum dated April 28, 2025. Prior to this, Sinha was serving as the Director General (Tourism) in the Ministry of Tourism. today. She will serve in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
An accomplished civil servant of the 1999 batch from the Rajasthan cadre, Sinha brings has over 26 years of extensive experience across public policy, international trade negotiations, and cultural administration. Prior to her role as Director General in the Ministry of Tourism, she served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, successfully leading major initiatives, including organising three major events in 2023.
Sinha's notable prior appointments include Managing Director of Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) Rajasthan unit. She has also held key positions in the domains of Food and Consumer Affairs, Science & Technology, and Culture. As Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), she conceptualized the innovative Astro Night Sky Tourism initiative, which led to the declaration of Hanle in Ladakh as India’s first Dark Sky Reserve.
Academically, Sinha is an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the University of California, Berkeley. She has been the recipient of several prestigious accolades, including the Ford Foundation Scholarship, NET-JRF Fellowship, Manorama Desai Award for Best Student in History, and the ELSA Change Maker of the Year 2020. Most recently, she was honoured with the ‘Raja Kakil Dev Sawai Jaipur’ Award in 2024 for her pioneering contributions to culture.
