
New Delhi: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has announced the appointment of Dr Anil Kumar Gupta and Pankaj Gupta as Additional Directors in the capacity of Independent Directors on its Board. The appointments have been made in accordance with an order issued by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, dated May 15, 2025.
The decision was approved by the Board of Directors of NTPC through a resolution passed by circulation on May 16, 2025, in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta is a renowned environmentalist and philanthropist, known for his extensive work in sustainability, governance, and the MSME sector. He is currently associated with the Central Pollution Control Board and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and also serves as Chairman of the Jhilmil CETP Society, which manages the treatment of 16.8 million litres of industrial effluent daily. His past roles include Independent Director at NAWADCO under the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Dr. Gupta holds multiple academic qualifications, including an M.Sc. in Environmental Science, an MBA, MA, LLB, and a PhD, along with specialized training from IIT Roorkee and IISc Bangalore.
Pankaj Gupta, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), brings over 25 years of experience in statutory and internal audits, taxation, corporate compliance, and consulting. He runs his own professional practice and is actively involved in several organizations such as DMA, EDMA, ITI, and DINBWE. He has also served on the JZK Committee on Waqf Property Lease Rules (2018) under the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
Both appointments are effective from May 16, 2025, and are for a period of three years from the date of notification of the Ministry's order, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
NTPC has confirmed that both individuals are not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other authority, and neither holds any shares in the company.
