

New Delhi: Atul Gupta is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Engineers India Limited (EIL), a PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on November 17. Presently, he is serving as Director (Commercial) in the same organisation.
Gupta has been recommended for the post of CMD of EIL from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its 111th selection meeting held on November 17. Out of nine candidates, five candidates were from EIL itself, two candidates were from Indian Oil and one each from GAIL India Limited and Bridge And Roof Company (India) Limited.
Gupta serves as Director (Commercial) at Engineers India Limited (EIL). A Mechanical Engineer from GBPUAT, Pantnagar, he joined EIL as a Management Trainee in 1992. Over the past three decades, he has been associated with a diverse range of domains and has played a pivotal role in the successful execution of several mega projects in India and abroad, adopting various modes of implementation.
Throughout his career, Gupta has led multidisciplinary teams across technical and commercial functions, including process, engineering, contracts and procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning. His expertise spans both greenfield and brownfield projects across sectors such as refining, petrochemicals, pipelines and fertilizers. He has also served at multiple project locations within India and overseas before moving to the corporate office in 2007.
With extensive project execution experience and leadership across complex assignments, Atul Gupta continues to contribute significantly to EIL’s strategic and commercial operations.
