New Delhi: Samir Chandra Saxena is set to be the next Director (Market Operation) of Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (National Load Despatch Centre) in the same organisation.
Saxena has been recommended for the post of Director (Market Operation) of Grid-India from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on April 9. Out of 11 candidates, eight candidates were from Grid-India and rest three from NTPC Limited.
The Director (Market Operation) post in Grid India set to fall vacant on June 1. Currently, Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda is serving as Director (Market Operations) of Grid India.
As Director (Market Operation) of Grid-India, Saxena will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for commercial operations, electricity market operations, open access in inter-state transmission, power exchange operations, accounting and settlement of electricity transmitted through the grid, deviation settlement, pool account operations, integration of renewable energy, REC mechanism, and legal and regulatory affairs.
