New Delhi: Sanjay Banga is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Telecommunications Consultants (India) Limited (TCIL), a PSU under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. Presently, he is serving as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI).

Banga has been recommended for TCIL's CMD post from a list of two candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel, in its selection meeting held on July 31. The other candidate, who was on the list, was from TCIL itself.
Banga has been serving as the CMD of CCI since 2021. A Gold Medalist in B.Tech (Civil) from Delhi College of Engineering, University of Delhi, he also holds an LLB from the University of Mumbai and an MBA in Marketing. With around 32 years of professional experience, Banga has worked across vigilance, contracts management, engineering execution, commercial operations, land development, asset monetisation, arbitration and legal affairs.

Before joining CCI, he served as Chief Engineer at MTNL, where he headed the Mumbai infrastructure wing and managed real estate assets worth approximately Rs 20,000 crore. He has also served as Chief Vigilance Officer at IREL (India) Limited and Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL). Since taking charge at CCI, Banga has led the company's turnaround, helping it achieve its highest turnover, profit and net worth in the last three decades after it had earlier been declared a sick enterprise and referred to BIFR.
As CMD of TCIL, Banga will serve as the Chief Executive Officer and head of the board of the company. He will be responsible for corporate policy formulation, global business development, and strategic project execution in telecommunications, IT, and civil engineering.
