New Delhi: Pankaj Pandey is set to be next Director (Operations) of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Saturday. Presently, he is serving as Chief Operating Officer (CTUIL) in the same organisation.

Pandey has been selected for the post of Director (Operations) of Power Grid following interviews conducted by PESB on August 29. A total of 12 candidates were interviewed for the post.

Pandey is a senior power transmission professional with around three decades of experience and currently serves as Executive Director (Tariff Based Competitive Bidding) at Power Grid. Since FY 2022-23, he has played a key role in securing 55 TBCB transmission projects worth around Rs 1.50 lakh crore, including India’s first TBCB-based HVDC transmission project valued at Rs 35,000 crore and Power Grid’s first BESS project.

He has extensive experience in transmission project execution, procurement and digitalisation, having handled infrastructure procurement worth more than Rs 16,000 crore across transmission lines, substations, HVDC systems and other power infrastructure. He has also managed procurement for World Bank- and Asian Development Bank-funded projects and led several process-improvement and digital initiatives at Power Grid.
