

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has entrusted the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of IRCON International Limited to Saleem Ahmad, who is currently serving as CMD of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited. He has been given additional charge of the post for a period of one year with effect from the date of assumption of charge on or after July 1.

According to an official communication issued by the Ministry of Railways on June 23, the post of CMD of IRCON will fall vacant on July 1, following the superannuation of incumbent CMD Hari Mohan Gupta on June 30.
The ministry stated that Ahmad will hold the additional charge for one year from the date of assumption of office, or until a regular incumbent assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ahmad assumed charge as CMD of RVNL on December 23, 2025. Prior to this, he served as Director (Projects) at NBCC (India) Ltd. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, and brings over 35 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure sector.
His professional experience includes the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects, with expertise in bridges, tunnels, and residential and commercial developments. Before joining NBCC, he served as Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and also held a position at Mumbai Port Trust.

During his career, Ahmad has contributed to sustainable infrastructure development and has presented technical papers at national and international forums. He also played a key role in designing and implementing last-mile connectivity solutions during his tenure at DMRC.
