New Delhi: Brijendra Pratap Singh is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Corporation (NALCO), a PSU under the Ministry of Mines. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Director in-charge of SAIL's Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants.
Singh has been recommended for the post of CMD of NALCO from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its selection meeting held on September 17. Out of six candidates, two candidates were from SAIL and one each from NLC India Limited, RailTel, NALCO and Indian Revenue Service.
Singh is a B Tech in Mining Machinery from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. With a rich experience spanning over 33 years, he is having diverse experience ranging from Mines, Blast Furnace, Sinter Plant & Maintenance and overall Plant operation from execution to leading from front. Singh was instrumental in ramping up production from Modernisation facilities like Blast Furnace-8, Universal Rail Mill and Bar & Rod Mill at Bhilai Steel Plant. At Bokaro Steel Plant, he introduced 3 tier Inspection & Maintenance system and successfully executed Converter Shell changing in a record time in SMS-2. He joined SAIL at Iron Ore Mine of Bhilai Steel Plant in 1989.
As CMD of NALCO, Singh will be the Chief Executives of the corporation and will be accountable to its Board of Directors and Government of India. He will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
