Shiv Das Meena (IAS) appointed as CMD of HUDCO

New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' (MoHUA) Additional Secretary Shiv Das Meena (IAS) has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). According to an order from the MoHUA, Meena has been given additional charge of the post for a period of six months with immediate effect from the date of issue of the order i.e. April 21, or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier. The information has been shared by the HUDCO in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Wednesday.

Shiv Das Meena is a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs

"In pursuance to the approval of ACC conveyed vide DoPT's communication No 26/1/2020-E0(ACC) dated 26.03.2020, it has been decided to assign the additional charge for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) to Shri Shiv Das Meena, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, for a period of 6 months with immediate effect from date of issue of order, or till appointment of a regular incumbent to the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest," said the order.

Shiv Das Meena is a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. He has over 30 years of experience in public service. He is an engineering graduate (BTech in Civil Engineering). He also did his masters of international studies from Japan. Earlier, he also has held additional charge of CMD of NBCC Limited in 2019.

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO)

HUDCO is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. It is the premier techno-financing PSE, in the field of housing and infrastructure development in the country.

HUDCO started financing the development of infrastructures in 1989. The priority was given for infrastructure facilities, including projects in the sectors of drainage, electricity, water supply, sewerage, solid waste management and roads in urban areas. Later, social infrastructure components like primary schools and playgrounds, hostels for working women, healthcare centres, police stations and jails, courts received the benefit of funding for a low cost.
