Sunil Kumar Nagdawne assumes charge as CMD of Pawan Hans

New Delhi: Sunil Kumar Nagdawne has assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Pawan Hans Limited (PHL), the country's premier helicopter services company and a Mini Ratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, with effect from July 3.

Nagdawne brings over three decades of leadership experience across aviation, energy, infrastructure management, operational excellence and stakeholder engagement.

Before taking over the top post at Pawan Hans, he served as General Manager (Aviation) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), where he was responsible for aviation fuel operations, airport infrastructure initiatives and strategic business development activities catering to both civil and defence aviation sectors.

During his career, Nagdawne has held several leadership positions in India and overseas. He has contributed to strengthening aviation operations, improving operational efficiency, promoting safety standards and developing customer-centric service models. His professional expertise spans aviation operations, infrastructure development, quality assurance, safety management, business strategy and organisational transformation.

An engineering graduate from NIT Bhopal, Nagdawne holds an MBA in Operations and Decision Sciences from NMIMS, Mumbai. He has also completed executive leadership programmes at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta.

On assuming charge, Nagdawne said he was honoured by the trust reposed in him by the Government of India, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, the Public Enterprises Selection Board and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

"It is a privilege to join Pawan Hans, an institution that has played a vital role in strengthening aviation connectivity across the nation for over four decades. I look forward to working closely with the Board, employees, customers and all stakeholders to further strengthen safety, operational excellence, customer service and innovation," he said.

He added that the company would focus on leveraging technology, enhancing operational capabilities, expanding business opportunities and contributing to India's growing aviation ecosystem and national development priorities.
