New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the additional charge of Chairperson (Joint Secretary level) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to Unmesh Sharad Wagh (IRS). Wagh, who currently serves as the Deputy Chairperson of JNPA, will continue in this role from January 4, 2025, to February 23, 2025, or until a regular appointment is made, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The decision follows a proposal from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, as referenced in official communication dated January 6, 2025. Wagh has been instrumental in overseeing key operations at JNPA, India's premier container port, ensuring operational efficiency and strategic growth.
Wagh is a seasoned Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2001-batch. He joined Indian Revenue Services in 2000 as an Assistant Commissioner in Central Excise and Customs, Jalgaon, Maharashtra.
