New Delhi: V. A. S. Kannen has assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Schedule A Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

Kannen is a Human Resources and Industrial Relations professional with experience across Life Insurance Corporation of India, private sector organisations, Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) and Engineers India Limited (EIL). He holds a Master’s degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from PSG Institutions and a degree in Law.

He began his career with LIC of India and subsequently spent 13 years with NLCIL, where he handled HR and Industrial Relations functions across mines, factories and the corporate office. During his tenure, he was involved in trade union and association matters, settlement of industrial disputes and the organisation’s first secret ballot election covering multiple strategic business units and around 12,000 workmen.

Kannen later joined EIL and served in senior HR positions, handling recruitment, manpower planning, HR policy and rules formulation, industrial relations and HR administration. He also established and managed HR functions at project and construction sites and headed the HR function for EIL’s Southern Region. During his tenure, he was associated with the implementation of the National Pension System for employees.

With experience spanning human resource management, industrial relations, employee relations, trade union management, recruitment, manpower planning, labour relations, dispute resolution and project-site HR management, Kannen will lead ECIL’s personnel function as the company continues to support India’s strategic and technological priorities.
