Yashpal Singh Tomar set to be next Director (NP&M) of RailTel

New Delhi: Yashpal Singh Tomar is set to be the next Director (Network Planning & Marketing) of Railtel Corporation of India (RailTel), a PSU under the Ministry of Railways. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. However, his appointment for the said post will be effective only after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet's (ACC) approval.

Tomar is an Indian Railways Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) officer of the Indian Railways. Presently, he is serving as Divisional Railway Manager in the Indian Railways.

Tomar has been recommended for the post of Director (Network Planning & Marketing) of RailTel from a list of 10 candidates, who were interviewed by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel in its selection meeting held on March 16. Out of 10 candidates, five candidates were from RailTel, two candidates were from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and one each from Balmer Lawrie & Co. Limited, Indian Telecommunication Service and Indian Railways.

As Director (Network Planning & Marketing) of RailTel, Tomar will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of RailTel. He will exercise statutory and corporate responsibilities in the efficient and profitable operation of the company.
