R Mahapatro assumes charge as Director (HR) of NALCO

New Delhi: Radhashyam Mahapatro has assumed charge as Director (HR) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines. Mahapatro is currently serving Director (Personnel) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He will take this new charge from January 1, 2020, an order from the Ministry of Mines said.

Mahapatro was recommended for the post of Director (HR) of NALCO by a Public Enterprises Selection Enterprises (PESB) panel on August 20. He was selected from the list of two candidates who were interviewed in the selection meeting. With his new appointment, Mahapatro will replace Basant Kumar Thakur, who is currently serving as Director (HR) of NALCO.

Carrer & Background

Mahapatro has taken over as Director (Personnel) of CCL on June 8, 2015. He has more than 30 years of experience in Power, Oil and Coal Sectors in different capacities. He also has handled many areas of HR functions, liaison and coordination. During his tenure in NHPC, ElL and CCL, he had worked for introduction of productive work culture. He had won 'Greentech Environment Award' for outstanding performance during his tenure in NHPC.

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO)

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), incorporated in 1981, is a Navratna PSU, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power under Ministry of Mines. It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium-Power complex in the country encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations
