New Delhi: RailTel has received a prestigious order in ICT category from the government of Haryana for design, development, configuration and implementation of cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for its Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) Gurugram, Haryana which is the first Skill University in the country. This is first of a kind ERP order for RailTel for any University. The value of this work order is Rs 18.72 crores (Including GST).
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) refers to a type of software which helps implement resource planning by integrating all of the processes and activities needed to run the organisation with a single system.
Under this work order, there will be fully web (internet/intranet) enabled web-based ERP deployed on a cloud platform. The work will be implemented in two phases. Phase-1 is to be completed within six months and the Phase-2 implementation and overall go live within 12 months. This work as well includes five years. Also, the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) (Operations & Maintenance) post-implementation.
The scope of work includes supporting of up to 30,000 concurrent users and have, provision for dynamic configuration up to 1,00,000 users, provisioning of the dashboard with Domain Name System (DNS) and DNS hosting for ERP system and Training of SVSU Employees.
The integrated system of ERP is proposed to include several modules pertaining to the entire gamut of activities of SVSU namely: Administration Management, Academic/Student Management System, University Examination, Skill Assessment Module, Accounting & Finance, Library Management System, Estate Management, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), International Collaboration, Skill School Management, Training, Placement & Industry Integration, Affiliation Portal module, Students Activity module, Website, mobile app development & Management, Integration of Virtual Classroom/meeting/webinar platform.
Talking about it, RailTel's Chairperson Aruna Singh said, "ERP is now being deployed by organisations to increase efficiency and productivity and reduce operational expenses. 'Cloud-based' ERP as compared to 'on-premises' ERP solutions is very convenient for the organisations as it saves their manpower and cost. RailTel has got modern cloud infrastructure spanning across its Tier-III Data Centres which are certified by Up-Time institute the USA and its cloud offering has been empanelled with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY). In view of its assets & domain expertise, RailTel will effectively implement this ERP project of SVSU. We are eying for more similar projects from other Government & Private organisations."
