New Delhi: Raiti Madhava Rao (IOFS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Rao has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Rao is an Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) service officer of 2008-batch. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Ministry of Defence. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Telecommunications," the order further added.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is a department of the Ministry of Communications of the executive branch of the government. DoT has been formulating developmental policies for the accelerated growth of telecommunication services. The Department is also responsible for grant of licenses for various telecom services like Unified Access Service Internet and VSAT service.
