Rajendra Prasad Goyal appointed as Director (Finance) of NHPC

• Rajendra Prasad Goyal gets ACC clearance to be appointed as Director (Finance) of NHPC

• Goyal is currently serving as Chief General Manager in the NHPC Ltd only

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rajendra Prasad Goyal as Director (Finance) of NHPC Limited, a Miniratna Power PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Tuesday. According to an order from the DoPT, Goyal has been appointed to the post for a period of five years from the date of his assumption of the charge of the post on or after October 1, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as Chief General Manager in the same organisation. With his new assignment, Goyal will replace, Mahesh Kumar Mittal, who is serving on NHPC's board since March 1, 2017.

Earlier, PSU Watch was first to report when Goyal was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of NHPC Limited by a PESB panel on March 12. He was selected from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

NHPC Limited was incorporated on November 7, 1975, under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 with the objective to be a globally leading organization for sustainable development of clean power through competent responsible and innovative values. NHPC Limited is a Miniratna PSU under the aegis of the Ministry of Power. NHPC was recently in news for the resumption of Subansiri dam construction which was pending for a very long time. The construction of the Subansiri lower dam has been stalled since 2011 by environmental groups because of ecological concerns.
