RINL-VSP observes ’51st National Safety Day’

New Delhi: RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) observed the 51st National Safety Day on Friday. To mark the occasion, a function was organised at the Learning and Development Centre (L&D Centre) auditorium of the Plant. The theme of 51st National Safety Day is "Nurture young minds – Develop safety culture."

Guest of Honour DCS Varma (Director of Factories, Govt of Andhra Pradesh) applauded RINL for achievements on the safety front and emphasized accidents can be prevented only when safety is adopted as a value and nurturing safety into the younger minds.

RINL-VSP's CMD Atul Bhatt in his address said that, "I am proud to say that we have achieved 22 million accident-free man-hours during the last three months. This shows the commitment of employees after taking the pledge. I request all the employees to maintain the same tempo to achieve zero accident targets." He also emphasized following technical discipline and focusing on safety considering the new hazards of modern equipment.

RINL-VSP Director (Finance) VVV Gopal Rao, Director (Projects) KK Ghosh,  CVO KVNagi Reddy, CGM (Maintenance & Iron) BK Mohanty, Inspector of factories P Chinna Rao, senior officers of RINL, Union leaders, Steel Executive Association members, representatives from SC/ST Association, OBC association and WIPS  were also present. Prizes to the winners of various Safety competitions held in this connection among employees, contract workers, school children and family members were distributed.

Earlier in the morning, flag hoisting was done at ED (Works) building by CGM(Maintenance & Iron) BK Mohanty and CGM (S&E) MSV krishnaiah in the presence of employees. A Safety Pledge was administered on this occasion.

In the projects division also, the Safety Flag was unfurled by CGM (Proj) PK Sarangi and in-charge construction. A safety pledge was also administered. Several senior officials of the projects division, engineers, supervisors and contract workers actively participated.

Minister of Steel Ram Chandra Prasad Singh presented the "Ispat Rajbhasha Sammaan" awards to RINL. While RINL's CMD and Director (Commercial) received the awards at Hindi Advisory Committee meeting of the Ministry of Steel, which was held at Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, the Vice Chairman of the meeting Faggan Singh Kulaste also graced the occasion. Additional Secretary (Steel) Ruchika Chaudhry Govil welcomed the committee. The committee reviewed the progress of Hindi in detail and appreciated the efforts being made by the RINL in promoting Hindi in the company.

Commendation Certificate was also awarded to GM (Rajbhasha) Lalan Kumar. CMD and Director (Commercial) congratulated the RINL-VSP collective.
