RSP renews MoU with Akshaya Patra Foundation

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has renewed the MoU with Akshaya Patra Foundation to provide nutritious mid-day meal to 42,000 school children

Rourkela: The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-profit organisation in India that runs school lunch programme across India, for provision of mid-day meal to 42,000 school students on every working day was renewed in the office of RSP's Chief General Manager (TA & CSR) on November 13. RSP's Chief General Manager (TA & CSR) AK Nayak and Vice President of Akshaya Patra Foundation (Odisha) Pancharatna Dasa signed the MoU in the presence of officials of both RSP and Akshaya Patra Foundation. The MOU is valid for a period of three years and ensures operational support of Rs. 2/- per mid-day meal to the 42,000 students of government and government-aided schools of Lathikata and Birsa Revenue Blocks. For Rourkela Steel Plant the financial implications will be around Rs. 1.5 crores per annum.

Akshay Patra Project is being implemented in Rourkela with the combined effort of Rourkela Steel Plan, Akshay Patra Foundations and Government of Odisha since the year 2014. RSP had made a capital investment of Rs 8.24 crores for setting up of the entire facility and is also contributing annually for the operation of the project.
