SAIL-RSP dispatches 1st rake of 52.5 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen through Oxygen Express

New Delhi/Rourkela: 52.5 tonnes of liquid medical Oxygen (LMO) has been despatched in four tankers from SAIL-Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in a rake of Oxygen Express on Friday morning for Haryana. This is for the first time that the Oxygen Express of Indian Railways has been used for the despatch of LMO from Rourkela.

"SAIL-RSP steel Plant has fully mobilised its resources and optimised the production of LMO towards the service of the nation as well as humankind. In the current month, RSP has despatched more than 2,700 tons of LMO by road to states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat apart from fulfilling the requirements of Odisha for treatment of COVID-19 patients" the steel plant said in an official statement issued Friday.

Steadfast in its commitment to strengthening the battle of the country with the COVID pandemic, SAIL- RSP is consistently supplying LMO to various parts of the country. Since April 2020, more than 9,500 tons of LMO has been supplied from RSP.

Speaking in this regard, RSP's CEO Dipak Chattaraj said, "SAIL-RSP is putting utmost importance on production and timely despatch of liquid medical Oxygen. We at Rourkela Steel Plant feel honoured that we have been able to serve the country and humanity by making LMO available to the critically ill patients. We are thankful to Indian Railways for the help extended in the noble initiative. We are also thankful to the govt of Odisha for developing green corridor for road despatch. We will continue to render every possible support to our Nation to combat the COVID pandemic."
