SAIL-RSP registers best February performance in key areas

New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Ltd's (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) continued its growth trajectory with most of the major units achieving the best February performance in February 2021. The team RSP led by the plant's CEO Dipak Chattaraj has been making positive strides and leaving no stone unturned to take the plant to greater heights of glory.

After beginning the calendar year on a high note with record performance in January 2021, RSP continued the success run by clocking the best February performance in major areas like hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel in February 2021. The Steel Plant produced 3,65,540 tonnes of hot metal to register its best February performance thereby improving its earlier best performance of 3,18,282 tonnes achieved in February 2019. Similarly, RSP produced 3,24,433 tonnes of crude steel to record the best February performance, the earlier best being 3,06,510 tonnes achieved in February 2020.

On the saleable steel front too, RSP produced 3,00,002 tonnes to register the best February. The New Plate Mill with 70,412 tonnes and Plate Mill with 43,732 tonnes not only contributed significantly in achieving the feat but also recorded their best February performance. Sinter Plants with 5,77,762 tonnes of total sinter production and Raw Materials Handling Plant with a despatch of 10,06,421 tonnes were the other major units to achieve the best February performance. The steel Plant also achieved the best February saleable steel dispatch of 2,87,847 tonnes.

Despite the pandemic induced unparalleled challenges, riding on the resolute grit and determination of the collective, almost all the units of the plant achieved their APP targets in February. The team RSP is now all geared up to close the financial year on a record-breaking note.
