New Delhi: SAIL, RSP has been reinforcing its place as a committed contributor in nation-building endeavours under Atmanirbhar Bharat by providing steel for some of the important structures of national importance. It was yet another a proud moment for the Steel Plant as it supplied the entire quantity of 900 Tonnes of E250B0 Steel Plates for the Railway Bridge of South Eastern Railways on River Subarnarekha between Kharagpur and Adityapur.

It may be noted that the plates rolled out in the state-of-the-art New Plate Mill of RSP has been used in several other mega bridge projects like the Makru Bridge, Chenab bridge and Mahtma Gandhi Setu etc.

Hot Strip Mill-2 of SAIL RSP registers highest single day HR Coil rolling

Continuing its spree of excellence Hot Strip Mill–2 of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered the record single day HR Coil production on 10th September 2022. The Mill rolled 7561 tons of Slabs and produced 372 coils weighing 7398 tons of Hot Rolled Coils, which are its best performance since inception. The previous best single day rolling of 7289 tons of slab and 7052 Tons of coil was achieved on 31st August 2022.

Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), visited HSM-2 on 12th September to congratulate the collective for the remarkable performance and presented sweets to the employees. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Suryawanshi said, "We've tremendous potential to continue the good run and reach important milestones with greater efficiency. Let's give our best to help RSP become the best Steel Plant in the country."

The HSM-2 and associated department collective assured the top management of their commitment to give the best for taking the plant to greater heights.

It is worth mentioning here that, the Hot Strip Mill-2 with 3 Million Tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity is a state-of-the-art mill with few parallels in India and will be producing world-class hot rolled (HR) coils. The Mill was commissioned on 31st March 2022.

With high level of automation, this mill would produce coils of Carbon Structural Steel, High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel, High Carbon Steel, LPG Cylinder Steel, Low Alloy Steel, API (up to X100) Pipe Steel and Auto-grade steel. Equipped with the latest and sophisticated technology, the Mill will meet the stringent requirements of the customers in terms of quality, finish, dimensions and other parameters.
