RVNL gets a new director in Sanjeeb Kumar (IRAS)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Railways for the appointment of Sanjeeb Kumar (IRAS) as Director (Finance) of Railway Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Kumar has been appointed on immediate absorption basis, for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or up to the date of superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

He is currently serving as Executive Director (Finance/PPP) of Railway Board. In addition to this, he is also holding the additional charge of Director (Finance) of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), also a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways.

Education & background

Sanjeeb Kumar is an Indian Railways Accounts Service (IRAS) officer of the 1989-batch. He holds MA, LLB and MBA degrees from the University of Delhi. Prior to joining Indian Railways, he held many important positions in different public sector companies, few of them under Railways. He has about ten years of corporate experience in DMRC and IRCTC as part of senior management. He is also part-time Director (Government) nominee on Bastar Railway Private Limited, Madhepura Electric Loco Private Limited (MELPEL) and GE Diesel Locomotive Private Limited (GEDLPL).

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is a government organisation associated with Indian Railways. RVNL's task is to build engineering works required by Indian Railways. Indian Railway network particularly High-Density Network, which connects the four Metro Cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai including the diagonals is oversaturated.
