New Delhi: Shipping Corporation of India (SCI)'s Chairperson & Managing Director (CMD) HK Joshi, who is also holding additional charge of Director (Finance) post, has been given an extension on the additional charge. She will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of the Director (Finance), SCI till the further order of the competent authority in this matter. This information has been shared by the Shipping PSU during the regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Tuesday. This is the second extension on her additional charge. Earlier in June, she had been given an extension for three months. She has been handling the additional charge of Director (Finance) since December 19, 2019.

Ms Joshi, joined SCI on February 5, 2015, as Director (Finance). She was also appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company on the same day. During her term lasting less than five years, she has held multiple additional charges from time-to-time at the Board level such as – Director (Personnel & Administration) in 2017-18, Director (Bulk Carrier & Tankers) in 2019, CMD from September 12, 2019, consequent to completion of the tenure of the former CMD. 

She has a rich and diversified experience spanning over three decades with ONGC, a Maharatna PSU, her experience includes almost two decades with ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL – the overseas arm of ONGC) which looks after the international business acquisitions of ONGC wherein she was actively associated with the path-breaking international transactions which led the company (OVL) to turnaround. This assignment gave her a lot of opportunities to travel and develop her professional attributes to International standards. She started her career as a Lecturer in Delhi University and joined the corporate world in 1984.

She is a fellow member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and a rank holder in her post-graduation in Commerce with specialization in financial management from the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors (100).

Awards & achievements

In July 2015, she was honoured with "CMA CFO Award 2014" from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. She has been the recipient of "The Most Influential CFOs of India Award" from Chartered Institute of Management Accounts, UK for two successive years, 2015 and 2016. She has also been awarded "The Tenth India CFO Awards – Excellence in Finance to enable a Turnaround" hosted by International Market Assessment India Private Limited in association with Pierian Services in May 2016. On 03.02.2018, she has been conferred with the Best Woman Employee Award 1st Place (Executive Category) by the Forum of Women in Public Sector (under the aegis of SCOPE).
