New Delhi: Deepak Chaturvedi (ITS), who is currently serving as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), has been given additional charge as CVO of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Mangaluru. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been given additional charge of the post for a period of six months from the date of assumption of charge or till the appointment of a regular CVO, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Chaturvedi is an Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) officer of the 1988-batch. He is serving as CVO of SCI since March 2017. Chaturvedi completed his graduation in BE (E&C) from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) and M Tech from IIT (Delhi). He also has a Management diploma from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Chaturvedi is a civil servant and a Telecom expert trained in telecom transmission with an experience of 33 years in the telecom sector and has grown up with the growth of the telecom sector in India in both scale and technologies from primitive and plain vanilla services in the monopolistic environment to state-of-art networks in the free and open competitive multi-operator market of various segments of telecom services. He has also participated as a member of Study Group (SG) of ITU, Geneva. He was part of the team in the maiden launch of various telecom services in India like mobile services, optical fibre transmission, few defence networks, rural India network, management of international bandwidth and deployment through internet backbone for the entire country.
