SECL celebrates Miners’ Day

New Delhi: Miners Day has been celebrated in South Eastern Coalfields Limited's (SECL) headquarters in Bilaspur on Friday. In an event held at SECL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) AP Panda hoisted the Coal India flag. In his address, while congratulating everyone on the occasion, he wished all Coal Miners and their families' good health. He said that in order to keep up with the coal requirements of the nation, coal sector needs to be working more than ever. He further said that our miners have worked hard even during the times of lockdown and crossed 150 MT of massive coal production during financial year FY2019-20. While praising the efforts done by SECL employees, he reiterated that SECL will always stand to meet the coal requirements of the nation in all ways possible.

On the occasion, SECL's CMD, all directors and union representatives offered tributes to SECL martyrs at the 'Martyrs Memorial' in headquarters, paid floral tribute at the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar and at coal miner's statue. Coal India corporate song was heard after flag hoisting and a minute's silence was observed for SECL employees who have lost their lives in pursuance of their duty.

Everyone present on the occasion pledged to offer their unabated services and complete diligence that may be needed to further the stature of the coal industry and to meet national coal requirements.

On the occasion, company's Director (Personnel) Dr RS Jha, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) BP Sharma, DTO RK Nigam, DT (P&P) MK Prasad, Director (Finance) SM Chaudhury and SECL Steering Committee Member Haridwar Singh had their distinguished presence. All guidelines regarding social distancing were observed and everyone present during the event wore the mask.
