Gandhinagar: The government may have billed its AKAM mega show as a grand affair that brings together 75 PSUs from across sectors on a single platform, but it seemed that the event was missing its grandeur on Thursday as several PSU Chairman and Managing Directors (CMDs) decided to skip physical attendance at the show for reasons unknown. This is despite the fact that a CEOs roundtable conference was on the agenda for Thursday. Several PSUs, including quite a few Maharatnas, were represented at the conference by Directors instead of CMDs, CEOs or MDs.

The roundtable conference was the showpiece of the four-day-long event. "With country at yet another cross road, PSEs once again have a vital role in not only adapting but also contributing effectively towards developing a self-reliant India. In this regard, it is imperative to understand what the roadmap for this momentous journey would be and what expectations of the stakeholders are likely to unfold. For this purpose, as part of AKAM celebrations, CEOs Roundtable is being organised with an intent to understand what the leaders of the PSEs believe and feel with respect to the roadmap," the government had said prior to the event.

Inauguration ceremony sees participation from PSUs pan-India

The inaugural ceremony for the #AKAM Mega show, which was addressed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, garnered widespread participation from PSUs across the lengths and breadths of the country, with senior executives from offshore assets and remotely located refineries joining the programme virtually. Alongside taking part in the four-day-long exhibition, PSUs across India are planting 75,000 saplings and holding their own programmes to celebrate the Iconic Week along with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE).
