New Delhi: Shah Faesal (IAS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on August 30, Faesal has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Faesal is a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He is the first Kashmiri to place first in the Indian Civil Services Examination.

In January 2019, he tendered his resignation from the Indian bureaucracy citing personal reasons, which, reportedly, was "never accepted" by the central government and he even withdrew the same later. He was reinstated in the Indian Administrative Service in April 2022 by the central government.

"He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Culture," the order further added.
