New Delhi: Shiv Kumar (IAS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Shiv Kumar is a 2008-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre. He is currently serving as Secretary of Education, Tourism and MD (LTDC) in the UT Administration of Lakshadweep. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Home Affairs," the order added.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is mainly responsible for the maintenance of internal security and domestic policy. The Home Ministry is headed by Amit Shah. The ministry is also the cadre controlling authority for the Indian Police Service (IPS), DANIPS and DANICS. The Police-I Division of the ministry is the cadre controlling authority in respect of the Indian Police Service; whereas, the UT Division is the administrative division for DANIPS.
