New Delhi: In cognisance of the outstanding contribution of the CSR initiatives by SJVN Limited, the company has been conferred with the prestigious Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award by World CSR Congress in Mumbai for the Best COVID -19 solution for community care. On behalf of SJVN, the award was received by SJVN Limited's Sr Additional General Manager Awadhesh Prasad SJVN from UNCTAD's Sr Advisor SK Dutt in a grand award ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion SJVN Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Nand Lal Sharma said that SJVN has always been a responsible corporate citizen and has been pioneering in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities towards its stakeholders and society. Since its inception, SJVN has spent more than Rs 340 crores in various CSR activities in the verticals of education, health, sanitation, infrastructural development, women and child care, sustainability, assistance during natural calamities etc.

Sharma further stated that at the very outset SJVN had perceived the threat of global pandemic (COVID-19) and promptly forayed into the dispersal of relief and aid measures which included liberal support to central and state governments. SJVN also made contributions towards PM CARES Fund and state disaster management authority funds.

He further informed that SJVN actively distributed safety and hygiene items like masks, gloves, PPE Kits, sanitiser, disinfectants etc. to the masses. Food items were provided to the needy as well as to various health workers during the pandemic and uninterrupted medical services at doorsteps to the local communities was ensured. SJVN also helped in strengthening the cold chain infrastructure for vaccination in the state of Himachal Pradesh. In addition to this financial support to government hospitals for medical equipment like ventilators, oxygen concentrators, oximeters, fowler beds, the establishment of isolation beds was also extended.
