SR Narasimhan set to be next CMD of POSOCO

New Delhi: SR Narasimhan is set to be the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO), a PSU under the Ministry of Power. Narasimhan has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Monday. He is currently serving as Director (System Operation) in the same organisation. With his new assignment as CMD of POSOCO, Narasimhan will replace KVS Baba, who is going to superannuate on February 1, 2022.

Narasimhan has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance. He has over three decades' experience in power system operation spread across CEA, POWERGRID and POSOCO after an initial stint with BHEL. Prior to his assignment as Director (System Operation) of POSOCO, he was serving as Executive Director of National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC) and was responsible for reliable and economic operation of the all India electricity grid which is also connected to the neighbouring countries of Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh. 

Narasimhan has contributed to several expert committees at the government and regulatory levels in different areas ranging from system operation, grid integration of renewable energy (RE) resources and optimization to institution building. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India, a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of CIGRE. He was conferred with the IEEE-PES, Delhi Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award in 2019 and the CIGRE Distinguished Member in 2020. He has published over 40 papers at the national and international levels.

As CMD of POSOCO, Narasimhan will be the Chief Executive of the corporation and will be accountable to its Board of Directors and government or shareholders. He will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation, and for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.
