Star Performer awards presented to 14 executives of RSP

Rourkela: In a function organised at the CPTI Auditorium of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on December 28, RSP’s Chief Executive Officer Dipak Chattaraj presented Star Performer Awards to 14 Junior and middle-level executives of the Plant for the 1st and 2nd quarter of the current financial year. Also present on the occasion were RSP’s Executive Director (P&A) Raj Vir Singh, Executive Director (Works) Gautam Banerjee, Executive Director (Materials Management) DK Mohapatra, Executive Director (Projects) Pankaj Kumar and many other senior officers of the Plant. The winners received the award along with their spouses.

The awardees for the Q1 were: Manager (Coke Ovens) PN Mohan Kumar Swamy, Manager Blast Furnace)  Managobinda Parida, Deputy Manager (Energy Management) Purna Chandra Malik, Deputy Manager (New Plate Mill) Mahesh Prasad Mishra, Deputy Manager {Shops (Structural & Fabrication)} Arun Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Manager (Instrumentation) Sumanta Kumar Mahapatra and Manager (Traffic and Raw Material) Binayak Jena.

The Star Performers for Q2 were Manager (Ore Bedding and Blending Plant) Ajit Kumar Panda, AGM (Sintering Plant-2), Senior Managers (SMS-I) Santanu Kumar Mohanta and Aniket Anat, Manager (Hot Strip Mill) Anand Kumar Mistry, Deputy Manager (Crane Maint) Pinaki Patra, Senior Manager (Power Distribution) Harshwardhan Kashyap, and Deputy Manager (R&C Lab) R Ramakrishnan.

While congratulating the award winners, Chattaraj eulogized the important role played by the spouse in the success of a person. Speaking about the saturation in the basic steelmaking technology, the CEO urged the collective to be innovative, stay updated and give extra effort so as to facilitate sustainable growth of the Plant.
Raj Vir Singh in his address emphasized on instant recognition of good work, while Gautam Banerjee spoke about the bright future that can be ushered in with collective effort. DK Mohapatra, advised the winners to share the success with their respective teams, while Pankaj Kumar said that together the employees have to take the Plant to new heights.

Deputy Manager (Personnel-OD) Somdutt Tripathy was the Master of the ceremony.

It is worth mentioning here that the ‘Star Performer of the Quarter’ Awards were introduced in October 2016 to recognise the executives in E1 to E5 level for exceptional contribution in the area of production, productivity, cost reduction, improvement in techno-economic parameters etc. in their respective departments, on a quarterly basis. So far, 92 executives have won this coveted award.
