New Delhi: Sujata Chaturvedi (IAS) has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs. The Central Government has approved the proposal for the assignment of the additional charge of the post of Secretary of Department of Youth Affairs to Chaturvedi with immediate effect and till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Chaturvedi is a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Bihar cadre. She has been serving as Secretary of the Department of Sport since October 1, 2021. Chaturvedi has previously served as an Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is a branch of the Government of India which administers the Department of youth affairs and the Department of Sports in India. The Ministry was set up as the Department of Sports at the time of organisation of 1982 Asian Games New Delhi. Ministry has been bifurcated into the Department of Youth Affairs and Department of Sports under two separate Secretaries.
