New Delhi: Suman Chandra (IAS) has assumed charge as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt of India. She has taken over the charge of the post with effect from Monday at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. This information was shared by Chandra in a tweet.

The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) in its order issued on January 6, had conveyed that the Central Government has approved the appointment of Chandra (IAS) as DS of MNRE. She has been appointed to post under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years with effect from the date of taking charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.
Chandra is a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre. Prior to this, she was posted as Managing Director of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited, a fully owned Govt of Maharashtra PSU, located at Parel, Mumbai. She has served in various important positions including Collector, Govt of Maharashtra.
