Swachhta Pakhwada: HPCL kickstarts its cleanliness fest

New Delhi: State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) started observing Swachhta Pakhwada from July 1. Swachhta Pakhwada has been a key feature to promote awareness and engage masses towards achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, an official release said. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a nation-wide campaign started from 2013 that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India's cities, towns and rural areas. Run by the Centre, the mission aims to achieve an "open-defecation free" India by October 2, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.

HPCL has been proactively contributing towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by building toilets at schools, villages and other public places, involving its employees and other stakeholders, mobilising masses towards cleanliness and undertaking innovative activities during Swachhta Pakhwada. This year also, HPCL is observing Swacchta Pakhwada from July 1-15.

In this regard, various activities/initiatives have been carried out and planned, seeking committed participation from all employees for achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The various activities carried out/proposed are pledge by employees and stakeholders, walkathon for awareness, spreading awareness and promoting cleanliness message by involving local stakeholders, conducting seminars on cleanliness etc, the release said.
