New Delhi: The Ministry of Power has appointed Tanmay Kumar (IAS) as Government Nominee Director of SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been appointed on SJVN board with effect from June 11, until the further orders whichever is earlier. This information has been shared by the power PSU during a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Friday. Tanmay is 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power. He is also serving as Government Nominee Director of Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) since March 18.

Education & background

Tanmay is an engineering graduate (B Tech in Civil Engineering) from llT-Delhi. He also did masters of engineering (M Tech in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering) from llT-Delhi. He had served in various capacities in the government of Rajasthan for almost 27 years. During his tenure, he has won numerous awards for spearheading several reforms in the field of public administration and their effective implementation. He has worked as Chairman of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) for five years. He has a rich and varied experience in the power sector.

SJVN Limited

SJVN Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of Ministry of Power, was incorporated on May 24, 1988, as a joint venture of the government and the state government of Himachal Pradesh. SJVN is now a listed company having shareholders pattern of 61.93 percent with government 26.85 percent with the government of Himachal Pradesh and rest of 11.22 percent with Public, according to the company's website. SJVN Limited is in the process of developing power projects which are in different stages of development in India as well as the neighbouring countries Nepal and Bhutan.
