What is 100 Octane petrol?
Octane rating in petrol is the measure of the fuel's ability to resist "knocking" or "pinging" during combustion, caused by the air/fuel mixture detonating prematurely in the engine. Typically unleaded petrol has octane ratings of 87 for regular and 91–94 for premium petrol. This is the first time that petrol with 100 Octane rating has been provided in India.
Should you use this 100 Octane XP100 petrol in your vehicle?
Well, ideally you should use the octane rating required for your vehicle by the manufacturer. So, you got to check your owner's manual. Usually, most petrol vehicles are designed to run on regular 87 Octane, but others are designed to use higher octane fuel.
