New Delhi: (PSU Appointment) Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya has taken charge as Director (Projects) of NTPC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, on Friday. Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Executive Director (Projects) in the same organisation. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Bhattacharya has been appointed as Director (Projects) of NTPC Limited with effect from August 28, 2020, till the date of his superannuation i.e. November 30, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. As Director (Projects) of NTPC, Bhattacharya is responsible for achieving excellence in techno-economical aspects of Power Plant Engineering and execution.
Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Bhattacharya was recommended for the post of Director (Projects) of NTPC Limited on March 3. He was selected from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel.
Bhattacharya is an engineering graduate (Electrical Engineering) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He also holds an MBA from the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon. Prior to joining NTPC Limited, he was heading BIFPCL (Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited) as Managing Director.
