New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar on Monday visited NHPC’s Subansiri Lower Project to review the ongoing construction activities at different sites of the project. On his arrival at Mohanbari Airport at Dibrugarh, he was accorded a warm welcome in traditional Assamese culture by NHPC’s Director (Projects) Bishwajit Basu and Janesh Sahni, HOP-Subansiri Lower Project.

On his arrival at the project, the Minister was accorded Guard of Honour by the CISF Unit posted at Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric project.

Minister visited various sites of the project and took stock of the progress of ongoing construction activities wherein Director (Projects), NHPC briefed about the progress in construction activities of the project. The representatives of major works contractors engaged in the project also briefed about the quantum of construction activities on individual fronts. During the visit, Minister laid the foundation stone for the start of the turbine assembly of Unit #1 of the project. The Minister also inaugurated the 160 KWp rooftop solar power plant installed in the New Administrative Building of the project.

Minister also visited an exhibition organised by farmer-producers companies registered for livelihood interventions initiated by NHPC in the field of Piggery, Sericulture and Handloom in the Downstream areas of the Project. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the efforts and initiative of NHPC for the people living in the downstream areas.

Representatives of district administrations of Dhemaji (Assam) and Kamle (Arunachal Pradesh) were also present during the visit of the Minister.
