New Delhi: VK Singh is set to be the next Director (Technical) of REC Limited (Rural Electrification Corporation Limited), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation. He is also on the Board of REC Power Development Corporation Limited (RECPDCL).
Singh has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of REC Limited from a list of 10 candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. Out of 10 candidates, six candidates were from REC Limited and one each from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), NTPC Limited, Unique Identification Authority of India (IRSS) and IRSEE.
Singh has over 32 years of extensive experience in technical, commercial, finance and operations functions across leading power sector PSUs. He started his career in a power sector premier organisation namely NTPC Limited (1989-91). Then he joined Power Grid in 1991 and worked till 2007 in transmission project development and management, procurement of goods and services, construction of EHV sub-stations and transmission lines in various parts of the country. He has also led a team in procurement activities for World Bank-funded transmission projects in Power Grid's Corporate Contract Services division. In REC Limited he started with Corporate Planning and International Cooperation & Development Division and also worked as Additional Chief Executive Officer with REC Transmission Projects Company Limited.
He is currently looking after financing of large Thermal, Hydro, Gas based Generation Projects in the Private Sector. Working as HoD of Private Sector Project Management which includes Generation, T&D and Renewable Energy, Procurement and Contracts Management and Entity Appraisal. He is also Director on the Board of Teesta Urja Limited & Bhadreshwar Vidyut Private Limited.
