VSP employees win medals at WBF championship

Visakhapatnam: Two employees from Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) won one silver and one bronze medal at Yonex BWF World Senior Badminton (WBF) Championship held recently at Katowice, Poland. RINL CMD PK Rath and Director (Personnel) KC Das congratulated them for bringing laurels to the company at the international level.

At WBF championship, India bagged a total of seven medals. Out of the total tally, two VSP employees: K Prabhu Naik Naidu (Senior Manager, Central Stores Dept), bagged Silver Medal in 50+ Mixed Doubles (with partner Suzanne V from Chennai) and BVSK Lingeswar Rao (General Foreman, Sports Dept) annexed Bronze Medal in 50+ Singles.

World Senior Championships

The BWF World Senior Championships are held once in every two years. It is an individual championship with men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles events. The age categories are: +35, +40, +45, +50, +55, +60 +65, +70 and +75. The World Senior Championships is an individual event for players. The winners of each category are awarded a gold medal and crowned World Senior Champion in their particular age category.

The runner-up gets a silver medal, while the third-place winner gets a bronze medal. Member Associations are invited to enter up to four players/pairs in each of the five events in each age category. BWF World Senior Championships 2019 were organised at Katowice city in Poland from August 4 to 11.
