New Delhi: NHPC Limited celebrated India's 72nd Republic Day with great enthusiasm on January 26, 2021. The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag and singing of National Anthem at NHPC Office Complex, Faridabad. Speaking on the occasion, NHPC CMD AK Singh extended his greetings to the entire NHPC family on Republic Day. CMD said that today we must remember the former leaders and freedom fighters of our nation. He also said that apart from power generation, NHPC is also undertaking beneficiary activities under its CSR-SD scheme.

Singh further commended the NHPC employees for their dedication and for generating power on a 24×7 basis even during the COVID-19 lockdown period. He said that the Ministry of Power has reposed faith in NHPC and is confident that NHPC will steadily grow to be a 30,000 MW company within this decade. The event was attended by NHPC's Director (Personnel) NK Jain, Director (Technical) YK Chaubey, Director (Finance) RP Goyal, Director (Projects) Biswajit Basu, CVO AK Srivastava senior officers and staff of NHPC.

On account of exemplary work done by NHPC in Haryana, the state government of Haryana has also conferred a Certificate of Appreciation for Best Corporate Responsibility Practices and COVID-19 relief work to AK Singh. The certificate of appreciation was received on behalf of CMD, by NHPC's Executive Director (CSR) Harish Kumar from Minister for Education, Govt of Haryana Kanwar Pal during Republic day celebrations at Gurugram on his behalf.

During the celebrations, special programs were also held at NHPC Residential Colony, Surjakund, Faridabad.  The program included a friendly 20-20 cricket match between NHPC Solar XI led by AK Singh and NHPC Wind Power XI led by NHPC's Director (Personnel) NK Jain. A tug-o-war match and musical chairs game for the ladies was also organised during the program which were thoroughly enjoyed by all present on the occasion.
