New Delhi: Yamuna Kumar Chaubey has been appointed as Director (Technical) of NHPC Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. He has been appointed with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after April 1. The information was shared by NHPC Limited in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Chaubey was recommended for the post of Director (Technical) at NHPC Limited by a PESB panel on September 19. He was selected from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. He is currently serving as Executive Director at NHPC Limited's corporate headquarters and is also serving on the Board of Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited as nominee Director since June 26, 2019.

Education & background

Chaubey is an engineering graduate (Civil Engineering) from llT-Kharagpur. He has over 34 years of working experience in various departments (contracts, design & engineering) and construction projects of NHPC in various capacities. He possesses experience in all aspects of the development of a hydro-project from concept to commission. He joined NHPC Limited in 1985 as Probationary Executive (Civil) at 540 MW Chamera Hydro-Electric Project and has been with the company since then.

His career spans over more than 25 years, during the course of which he has worked with the design and engineering division, has worked in various capacities in planning & layout engineering for PFR/FR/DPR and construction stage design of hydro-electric/river valley projects.

NHPC Limited, formerly known as National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, was incorporated on November 7, 1975, as a Central government enterprise for the development of hydropower. It is a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power.
